deleting all non-exclude X ALL lines in ISPF

How to delete all Un-Excluded Lines in ISPF

Generally you would have used :
x all; find all <criteria>; del x all

It deletes all lines you have excluded (and don’t need any more) in your dataset.

Here we have different scenario:

We want to exclude all lines that meets a <criteria> and then delete all lines that don’t meet the <criteria> …

steps :

[1] x all <criteria>

It will exclude all lines having the <criteria>

Now read carefully

Now you want to delete all visible lines and keep all excluded lines (which meets your <criteria>)…………..

and unwanted lines are now visible to you.

you want to delete these all visible (unwanted) lines.

the command you have to issue is :

[2] del all nx

it will keep all excluded lines and delete all visible lines.

You will see all the lines are excluded in your dataset,

Just issue reset command and view the result..

Got it ??? !!!!

Here is the command we can issue for finding non blank character

f P’¬’

now using this we can view all paragraphs names in cobol source.

Open your source in view or edit mode

x all; f all P’¬’ 8 ; x all ‘*’ 7

this will show lines other than procedure divisin…

If you wish, you can exclude lines from begining to procedure division.

“RFIND is not active” in the SDSF

RFind PF5/PF6 is not working in my SDSF

In SDSF  the Repeat find command is not available as the application ID is different and do not share the same keys listing as ISPF….

We have to change the keys list for SDSF (one time setting –of course in one shop)

  1. Go to SDSF;ST
  2. Select all of any JOB
  3. Type ‘keys’ and hit return key
  4. On PF5 (or PF6) type IFIND in stead of RFIND
  5. Hit PF3

VOILA… WE are done…!!!

Now WE can repeat find using the same PF5 (or PF6) as we do in ISPF……..

I got the information from following websites:

http://www.mvshelp.net/vbforums/showthread.php?p=206522

Steve,
SDSF runs under a unique Application ID so the PFkey definitions are separate from ISPF. Enter KEYS when in SDSF to verify the value for PF5.

Hi I found the following statement in the appendix of the sdsf manual … maybe it helps

If you use the Repeat-Find PF keys under ISPF and they don’t invoke the
Repeat Find function, the problem may be that the SDSF table library was
not concatenated correctly with the ISPF table libraries. You may also see
the ISPF message RFIND NOT ACTIVE to indicate this. The SDSF Repeat-Find key should be defined as IFIND.

ISPF Settings commandline on top, HomeKey and TabKey

When a new MainFrame ID is created for a new USER.

This is how it looks.

problems:

[1] Command Line is at bottom.
 >> generally we are habituated to and like to have in on top.

[2] Pressing HomeKey places the cursor on “Actions Menu Bar”
>> It is cumbersome to take cursor on commandline by pressing the tab key number of times.
>> if it goes directly to commandline it saves time of pressing tabkey as thus helps working faster.

[3] Pressing the TabKey places the cursor on each options in TSO/PDF option 3.4 Screen.

>> It is cumbersome to take cursor on DSN line (option 3.4 ) or selection column in PDS members listing  by pressing the tab key number of times which take on column headers.
>> if it goes directly to (selection) opton column (first column where we give commands to view, browse, info, copy etc) it saves time of pressing tabkey as thus helps working faster.

solution:
[1] “Command line at bottom” << De-select / turn off this option (remove ‘/’)
[2] “Tab to action bar choices” << De-select / turn off this option (remove ‘/’)
[3] “Tab to point-and-shoot fields” << De-select / turn off this option (remove ‘/’)

Hyperlink in ms excel – use of JCL PARM, SYSIN

How to provide hyperlink in Microsoft Excel:

  • Function =HYPERLINK(“url_link”, “display_name”) is used in MS Excel for creating hyperlinks.
  • If we have created all the links using Microsoft word — it replaces simple quotes with smart quotes — which excel doesn’t take for hyperlink function. We have to replace all smart-quotes (“”) with simple quotes (“”).
  • Mainframe Tips:

  • If we are passing data from JCL PARM=”data” then we have to take care in linkage section for removing the wrapper using picture s9(04) comp. and then the catch the real data.
  • The data we pass through SYSIN can be read by ACCEPT statements in COBOL
